Sustainable Townsend Launch
We were created to be stewards of God’s creation through our work and Sustainable Townsend has been created to help students explore this calling and consider what they are able to do as part of it.
Genesis 1:28 is known as the cultural mandate. It is the original call to stewardship. It’s where God first calls humanity to cultivate and care for his creation using the unique gifts and talents he has endowed to every person.
Sustainability Super Curriculum
To compliment the academic subjects super curriculum, a sustainability one has also been launched for all year groups. Similar to the subject curriculum’s there is a read, do, watch and visit task. The Discovery Centre has stocked copies of the books, there are also audio versions of some of them to help students complete the tasks. Students can access the tasks and submit their evidence via the Sustainable Townsend Showbie, details of this and the class code are displayed on the display board on the PE corridor. Students will be rewarded for every section they complete, when all sections are complete they will be awarded with certification and a badge as sustainability ambassador.
Logo Competition
As we look forward to a new school year we are launching a new initiative for students across the school to get involved with and show that we are stewards of our planet and community. As Sustainable Townsend is launched it needs a logo to identify all the work and initiatives we embark on. I would like to invite all students to consider entering the logo competition. All students are welcome to enter, all entries will receive house points. A Showbie classroom has been set up for entries to be posted and the deadline is Friday October 3rd, students can find details of this on the display board in the PE corridor or on their form board display.
Photography Competition
As part of Sustainable Townsend and raising our awareness of our planet and how we can make a small difference and become better stewards; every half term a new creative competition will be launched. This half term it is a photography competition with the title “Our Amazing Planet”. All students in all year groups are welcome to enter, all entries will receive house points and the winning entries will be displayed on the board in the PE corridor and here in the newsletter for all to see. Entries can be posted on the Sustainable Townsend Showbie classroom and the deadline is Friday 24th October, students can find details of this on the display board in the PE corridor or on their form board display.
