Year 7 and 8 have taken part in a street dance session provided by Street Kicks. Years 9 and 10 did a circus skills session with Try Circus Skills and year 12 have done a movement session with Mrs Giles.
For the street dance session students used mindfulness, freestyle movement, music, props and relaxation activities. They explored how to acknowledge and move through their feelings, and discovered how music and movement can help with that process. There was lots of music, dancing and laughter and it was a joy to see!
The circus skills sessions helped students to enforce, or re-enforce, the positive skills and values we all need to improve our ability to learn. Complex problems were broken down into manageable, fun challenges that were solved with focus, patience and perseverance. It also helped students to improve their balance, dexterity, and coordination. It also gave them the chance to focus on their tenacity, and self belief.
All students seemed to thoroughly enjoy the sessions and the year 10s described the circus skills as “sick” which I understand is high praise! We hope they enjoyed doing something different and learning some new skills whilst having fun.

We have arranged for every student to take part in an active session during the week. Year 7 and 8 will be doing a street dance session provided by Street Kicks.
Years 9 and 10 will be doing a circus skills session with Try Circus Skills and year 12 will be doing a movement session with Mrs Giles. We’re excited that students will have the opportunity to try something new and we hope they’ll have fun whilst doing it.
Students will be doing a movement starter during one of their lessons in the week. We’ll also be encouraging students to get outside at the weekend and have organised a photography competition, details of which will be shared with you next week.

Many young gamers are actively playing this title, both with friends and with strangers via online multiplayer – despite the game’s 18+ rating.
Unfortunately, the gore and violence of Helldivers 2 (combined with its in-game purchases and the ability to play with unfamiliar people online) present significant online safety concerns for its younger players. The PDF guide attached explores these issues in detail and advises on minimising the risks to children and young people.
