Student Leadership
As head students, we are fully involved in all elements of school life here at Townsend. We assist in the transition period for both year seven students and for year 12 students.
As Head students we strive to be role models and mentors to our fellow peers, guiding and inspiring them to reach their full potential. To emphasise this, we have participated in a lot of charity work and have raised money not only for our local, national and international charities; St Albans Action For Homeless, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Save The Children but also supported Youth Talk, Comic Relief and in the future Children In Need. We do this through fun activities such as a school dance off, a family fun run and a summer picnic.
We are keen in strengthening the Townsend community and therefore are introducing student representatives from every year group so the students have an opportunity to create change in their school. We would also like to create support groups to provide extra help to students that may need it. Our team has also been involved in discussions with the school’s governors about sustainability, where we hope to instil a lasting change within the school mindset, hoping to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. By working together, we will make a positive impact on Townsend which can be carried through to all leadership teams to follow.
