Student Leadership
As head students, we are fully involved in all elements of school life here at Townsend. We assist in the transition period for both year seven students and for year 12 students.
We organise and lead fundraisers for the various charities we support, such as the inter-year group rounders matches we held in support of YouthTalk, and the Macmillan Coffee Morning Bake Sale where we raised over £200. We also are tasked with the important role of reading prayers in the Cathedral Services we have each year, and leading various assemblies for different year groups.
Year 13 is both such an important and busy year which is why the head student term runs from April to April. This means that there is lots of time to prepare and get in the right mindset before exams, whilst also still being at school so we can aid the incoming head students. Being a head student helps you develop many important skills such as public speaking, leadership and how to work effectively in a team, something we have discovered during our period in leadership. As head students, we are supported by a team who help make events run smoothly, make important decisions and all together assist us in whatever we need.
The skills we learn over the course of our time as head students will undoubtedly help us as we move onto the next chapter of our lives.
