Young Artist Competition: Haunted Harrow 🎃

Harrow Arts Centre is inviting young artists aged 4–16 to take part in its Halloween-themed Young Artist Competition: Haunted Harrow.

Children and young people can submit a spooky-inspired drawing, painting, photograph or sculpture for a chance to have their work displayed in the Harrow Arts Centre Gallery from 6–20 October 2026.

Entries will be judged on creativity, use of colour and interpretation of the theme, with one winner selected from each age category (4–6, 7–11 and 12–16). Winners will receive two free tickets to the Spooky Puppet Theatre Workshop on 30 October 2026.

Entry deadline: Friday 2 October 2026

After School Study Club Update

📚 After School Study Club Update

We are pleased to offer an After School Study Club to support students with their home learning. The club provides a quiet, focused environment where students can work alongside our Learning Support Assistants and receive help with home learning tasks when needed.

Students attending are expected to bring specific home learning tasks that they need support with and to spend the session focusing on completing their work.

Session Times

Years 7, 8 and 9

Tuesdays
📍 IT4
🕒 3:25 pm – 4:25 pm

Years 10 and 11

Thursdays
📍 IT4
🕒 3:25 pm – 4:25 pm

Important Dates

Please note that, due to staff training, After School Study Club will not be running on the following dates:

❌ Thursday 22 October

We encourage students to make the most of this opportunity to develop their independent study skills, complete home learning, and access additional support when needed.

🌞Don’t Forget Our Year 7 Welcome Picnic is Tomorrow! 🧺

We are looking forward to welcoming our new Year 7 families to the Townsend Year 7 Welcome Picnic on Saturday 12 September. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet other families, make new friends, and become part of the Townsend community.

Whether your child is already settling in well or is still finding their feet, the picnic is a relaxed and friendly chance for everyone to connect and feel part of the Townsend family.

If you have not yet confirmed your attendance, there is still time to let us know you’re coming. Please complete the form so we can finalise arrangements.

Interested in a Career as an Airline Pilot?

Students aged 14-19 who are considering a future in aviation may be interested in the Become a Pilot Academy, a 14-week live online programme designed to help aspiring pilots understand the pathway into a professional flying career.

Delivered by Commercial Pilot and Qualified Science Teacher, Sam Piri, the course provides an introduction to the knowledge, skills and experiences required to pursue a career in the airline industry.

What will students learn?

Participants will explore:

  • Pilot careers and airline-funded training pathways
  • GCSE and A Level Maths and Physics tuition
  • Principles of Flight, navigation, meteorology and aircraft performance
  • Pilot aptitude testing and psychometric assessments
  • Airline application and interview preparation
  • Human factors, communication and professional pilot competencies

Course Details

📅 Starts: Tuesday 8 September 2026
🕕 Time: Tuesdays, 6.00pm to 8.00pm
💻 Format: Live online sessions over 14 weeks
🎯 Age Group: 14-19 years
