Sports Hall Project Consultation
Over the past three years, we have been working closely with architects, consultants and partners to develop plans for a brand-new sports hall and fitness suite for our school. We are pleased to have reached an important milestone and are now preparing to submit our planning application.
This project represents a significant investment in the future of sport, physical education and wellbeing at Townsend. The proposed facilities will provide enhanced opportunities for our students and the wider community, supporting a wide range of sporting activities and helping us to continue delivering a high-quality educational experience.
The standard Sport England 4-court sports hall which can accommodate the following:
Badminton, Basketball, Netball, Handball, Indoor hockey, Table tennis, Indoor / short tennis, 5-a-side / Futsal, Volleyball, Indoor cricket (with retractable nets), Trampolining (meets minimum height of 7.6m)
The fitness suite can hold around 16 people for any machine-based activities, or kept clear for mat-based activities like yoga or Pilates
Subject to planning approval, we hope to secure the funding required to bring the project to life. While there are still several stages to complete, our ambitious aim is to have the new sports hall ready for use by September 2028.
