PTA Update

March 8, 2024/in General News/by Isabelle Stuckey

Great news! Over the last two years the PTA have donated over £15,000 to the school.

These have included the following:

• Four year Unifrog subscription. This benefits all year groups, with advice on career choices, apprentice applications, and PSHE.

• A Yamaha keyboard and stand for the main hall for concerts, shows and practise for student instrumental improvement.

• PA equipment for the main hall and lecture theatre.

• A Book vending machine. Which is placed in the foyer for students to borrow books.

• School Christmas trees.

In January 2024 The PTA has given a donation to the Discovery Centre in excess of £10,000 to enable the library to purchase up to date fiction and non-fiction reading materials for all ages.

It has been agreed that a small annual donation will be given to continue the updating of reading materials.

The PTA are delighted that our fundraising efforts have made such positive contribution to all Townsend students. We look forward to continuing to do so in the future.

Many Thanks,
PTA

World Book Day!

March 8, 2024/in General News/by Isabelle Stuckey

On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day at Townsend.

We had a large variety of activities taking place, ranging from author visits, to our masked reader event, to our form door competitions. Even our Sixth Formers took part in dressing up as book characters to celebrate the day!

All the students taking part had a great time and enjoyed the different book related competitions and events that took place throughout the day.

Make sure to keep a look out on our social media platforms to see all the activities that students got up to!

Red Nose Day!

March 8, 2024/in General News/by Isabelle Stuckey

As you may be aware, it is Red Nose Day next week, on Friday 15th March.

To celebrate this, we will be running a few fundraising events throughout the week. Starting on Monday, students will be able to guess how many sweets there are in a jar, with each guess costing 20p. Students are also encouraged to buy Red Nose Day merchandise from school gateway and then wear that into school on Friday.

Finally, our big event will be a Teacher vs Student dance off, held on Friday 15th March! There will be sign up sheets across the school and we are also going to send out a google form for students to register their interest on. It will cost 50p to watch the dance off, which will be held on the upper courts at lunch time. Viewers will then have the opportunity to choose the winner of the dance off at the end!

We hope to see you there!
