Please read below about the recent joint Maths/ French Trip to Paris, written by two of our students.
Sunday 4th February
The first ferry from Dover to Calais was a really enjoyable experience. The waters were calm and we could see France from the ferry. Upon arrival, we went to our allocated rooms at our hotel at the Chateau Romaine with our friends and unpacked. We then went on a tour of the site and met up for dinner. (I had mac n cheese with a chocolate éclair and it was so good!) A few minutes later, after I drank my hot chocolate, we went outside to the courts and played basketball and football.
Monday 5th February
WE WENT TO DISNEYLAND! We explored Disney Studios for an hour before our French group headed off to central Paris. We went on a boat ride on the Rover Seine and saw the Louvre, the famous padlock bridge and Notre Dame. We then went to the Eiffel Tower and were able to walk around the tower, take photos and warm up with churros and crêpes. Afterwards we went to the top of the Montparnasse Tower to see some great views of the whole of Paris before returning to the Disney Park to eat and watch the drone and fireworks show.
Tuesday 6th February
We woke up early and made sandwiches for packed lunch before having breakfast. Then we all made our way into central Paris where we went on a walking tour to see the Luxembourg Gardens which was a very pleasant walk and we got to see the Sorbonne, the French equivalent to Cambridge University. We then went to Montmartre, where we were able to buy food, souvenirs and macarons for our family and friends.
Afterwards we travelled to the ferry port and got the ferry back to England, but this time the crossing wasn’t as calm! We arrived back at school at midnight!

Sunday 4th February
My experiences on the France trip were ones I doubt I will ever forget. There were so many places we went and so many fun things I did that I don’t know where to start! The trip on the ferry was very eventful, as we got to walk out and see the ocean, as well as sit and spend our time relaxing and messing about with LEGO we bought at the shops. Once we arrived at our dorms, I got to live with my friends and have a relaxed dinner while drinking their lovely hot chocolate, then afterwards got to play a big game of football/basketball which was loads of fun!
Monday 5th February
On the second day, we got to spend our time at Disneyland, exploring all the different parks and listening to a very intriguing Maths conference about the illusions of mathematics, etc. At roughly 8pm, we got to watch a spectacle, which was the Disneyland Paris fireworks display. It was marvellous!
Tuesday 6th February
On the third and final day, we got to have a walking tour around Paris, and a bit of time to ourselves (which I spent the majority of eating Popeyes). There were so many souvenirs that I couldn’t decide what to bring home! The trip back was a tiring one, with many people sleeping on the bus, showing how tired we were after exploring France for around three days. Once I got home, I couldn’t stop talking about it! This was my favourite trip I’ve ever been on and I would trade anything to relive my experiences in Paris!
