Sixth Form Garden

May 7, 2025/in General News/by Isabelle Stuckey

On Tuesday our Sixth Form students took part in a bit of gardening!

Our students were able to brighten up their Sixth Form quad area with the help of Mr Henn and his team from Garden on a Roll. Garden on a Roll works by laying out the biodegradable sheet of mapped out plants, cutting the cross and planting the different plants in the targeted areas and covering the top with soil to finish. It was a great opportunity for our students to take part in and decorate their Sixth Form area.

Thank you to Mr Henn and his team for helping us brighten up and improve our Sixth Form garden!

If you would like more information on how Garden on a Roll works, please click the link below.

Year 10 work experience 12th-16th May

May 6, 2025/in General News/by Isabelle Stuckey

Year 10 students will all be out of school completing their work experience placements next week.

They will be visited by a member of Townsend staff while on their placement unless this is not possible. Please ensure that your son / daughter remembers to call the employer if they are unable to attend due to illness on any day of their placement or if they are going to be late. Students should also ensure that they know how to get to their work experience placement.  Please call the school and not the employer directly if there are any concerns with a placement. All students should be completing their work experience log book while on their placement and visiting staff will be checking this.

We look forward to hearing about their experiences when they return to school on Monday 19th May.

‘Get into Teaching’ career insight day for year 12 students

May 6, 2025/in General News/by Isabelle Stuckey

Herts for Learning are pleased to offer a limited number of Year 12 students the opportunity to attend a ‘Get into Teaching’ Careers Day.

Hosted by Alban Teaching School Hub and supported by Teach in Herts on Monday 30th June, at Sandringham School in St Albans. This full-day event is designed to give students valuable insight into career pathways in teaching and a broader understanding of the diverse roles within the education sector.

Throughout the day, students will take part in talks, interactive workshops, and sessions led by professionals across the education field. These sessions will offer first-hand perspectives and practical advice for those interested in pursuing a future in teaching or education more broadly. Students should speak to Mrs Davey as soon as possible if they are interested in attending so that their place at the event can be registered by the school.
