Year 12- Why politics matter

May 16, 2025/in General News/by Isabelle Stuckey

Townsend Sixth Form, once again welcomed former BBC politics journalist and Westminster commentator Keith MacDougall to talk to Year 12 about why politics matter.

The informative talk impartially discussed and educated students on the current political landscape in the UK and how the political system in the UK works. The floor was opened up to what laws would students bring in, if they were in power, and allowed opportunity to discuss and debate in a similar manner of that in Parliament. An excellent talk which broadened students perception of politicians and politics as they become voters themselves very soon.

All Year 12 students have also been given the opportunity to take part in a trip to the House of Commons, led by Mr Bremner, there are a few spaces available so if anyone is interested, they can make themselves known to Mr Bremner.
