Year 11 – Thursday 9th May Arrangements

April 25, 2024/in General News/by Isabelle Stuckey

Information for Year 11 students concerning Thursday 9th May.

Pupils must be at school by 8:45am.

After the RS exam pupils whose parents have consented for them to be on study leave are able to sign out in the small canteen. Pupils who do not have parental consent to be on study leave must go to lunch, and then Period 3 and tutor time (12:20pm – 12:30pm). Timings for the morning have been changed due to the Abbey service, which Year 11 are not expected to attend. Students without parental consent for study leave may leave at 12:30pm for this day only.

However, if your child is sitting a drama exam they will need to go to the small canteen at 12:30pm.

Best of luck to all Year 11s with all of their exams!

Mr Still
Head of Year 11

Introductions from our Head Students!

April 19, 2024/in General News/by Isabelle Stuckey

Hi parents and carers of Townsend!

As the new student leaders we would love to introduce ourselves personally. After a complex application process we are pleased to announce that Amelia and Louie are our head students with Tiffany and Shaun as our deputies.

Our first official week has been a great success. We have had engaging meetings discussing our plans for this summer term. Next week we aim to support the year 11s before their stressful upcoming exams. We will be holding a Q&A where we will answer any questions that may be on their minds.

We are also looking forward to meeting with Mrs Line to organize our upcoming Abbey service.

Lastly, we invite everyone to join us for the family fun run on Saturday the 11th of May and 2pm.

See you soon!

Year 10 Work Experience

April 17, 2024/in General News/by Isabelle Stuckey

All of year 10 will be out of school for their work experience week from Monday April 29th until Friday May 3rd.

If they have not already done so each student should contact the employer by telephone to ask if they need to attend a meeting, interview or initial visit before their placement begins. Most employers will not accept the student for their placement if this contact has not been made.

All students have been issued with a work experience logbook which contains important health and safety information and a script to help them make their phone call to the employer on page 5.

This logbook should be completed on each day of their work experience and the member of staff who visits the student will expect to see evidence of it being completed. There will be prizes and certificates for the best logbooks.

If your child experiences any problems while on their work experience placement please contact me at the school rather than the employer themselves. However, if your child is going to be late to their placement or is ill and unable to attend please ensure that the employer has been contacted and informed by the student.

We hope that all of the students really enjoy this very beneficial experience.

Townsend’s Family Fun Run!

April 17, 2024/in General News/by Isabelle Stuckey

Mental Health Awareness Week takes place in May.

The theme this year is “Movement: Moving more for our mental health”. To kick start the week we are organising a big family fun run and would like as many people in our school community to take part as possible.

The event will take place on Saturday 11th May at 2pm and we invite all students and their parents/carers, siblings and extended family to take part. Entry is £2 per person and all money raised will be going to one of our school charities: Youth Talk. This is a fantastic local charity that supports many of our students.

The fun run is a 2k course and will not be timed, it’s a fun community event where people can choose to run, walk or jog.

The run will start on the school field behind the Discovery Centre and the route is all on grass.

Our school PTA will be selling refreshments afterwards.

If you would like to take part then please complete the Google form and then send payment via School Gateway.

We look forward to seeing you there!
