Year 12 News

January 19, 2024/in General News/by Isabelle Stuckey

Earlier in the week some of our Yr12’s started the High Fliers programme and also had a speaker deliver a talk from Stone King Solicitors.

The high fliers programme is aimed at Sixth Form students who have aspirations to attend Oxbridge, Russell group Universities or apply early for UCAS such as medicine or dentistry. The programme is also aimed for high attaining students who might pursue a top degree apprenticeship. Every other week students will be challenged on their critical thinking and problem solving skills. Throughout the programme students will also take part in debates that are designed to get students thinking outside of the box and to prepare them for their early university applications

On Thursday, our Yr12 students also had a speaker from Stone King Solicitors deliver a talk about careers in Law, apprenticeships and different Law degrees. Thank you Mr Coley, our students had a very informative time!

Hemel Symphony Orchestra

January 19, 2024/in General News/by Isabelle Stuckey

Please see the attached flyer from the Hemel Symphony Orchestra.

The Hemel Symphony Orchestra our hosting an upcoming concert, featuring Italian violinist Lucilla Rose Mariotti Banwell and the music of Beethoven, Bruch and Brahms. Lucilla will be playing a Stradivarius violin!

Tickets are now on sale for the event which will be at St John’s Church, Boxmoor on Saturday 3rd February.

The Orchestra wants to enable as many of our community to attend our concerts as possible. Under 18s already have free entry, and for this event, we are trialling a pilot scheme of making a limited number of free tickets available for the parents or carers of young people studying music, either at GCSE/A Level or through peripatetic learning. These tickets are available on our website, alongside our standard tickets.
