Everyone Active Sporting Champions

Applications for the Everyone Active Sporting Champions scheme 2024-25 are now OPEN!

If you are an up-and-coming athlete, you could receive free access to more than 230 Everyone Active
centres across the country, alongside mentoring and support from some of the UK’s most influential
athletes, including Olympians and Paralympians competing at Paris 2024.

Ambassador for the scheme and Olympic silver medallist, Colin Jackson said: “I’m passionate about
nurturing young talent and the Sporting Champions scheme goes above and beyond in this mission.
With the Olympics and Paralympics taking place in Paris this summer, the programme takes on even
greater significance in 2024. Seeing these future champions flourish fuels my excitement for what’s
to come.”

Easter revision course for Music GCSE students

Please see the below information provided by Musicale’s about their upcoming Easter revision course for Music GCSE students.

‘Calling all GCSE Musicians! If you are studying for Edexcel or OCR Music GCSE then we can help you revise and succeed!

Katie Metcalfe, a hugely successful and experienced teacher and musician, is running a short revision course this Easter holiday covering all the set pieces and exam hints and tips to get you your best grade possible.

Monday 8th April & Tuesday 9th April

9.30am – 12.30pm for Edexcel students

1pm – 4pm for OCR students

Sunday 9th June – Quick fire revision

2pm – 3pm for Edexcel students

3pm – 4pm for OCR students

Amongst other resources Katie will be using the CGP Edexcel and OCR GCSE Music Complete Revision & Practice books during the course. This course is open to all GCSE Music Edexcel and OCR students, not just those learning an instrument through Musicale.

Financial support for music lessons 24/25

Please see the below information provided by Hertfordshire Music Service:

Applications for help with fees with Hertfordshire Music Service are open for continuing students from today, the 1st March 2024.

Lessons will continue until notice to withdraw is received as per the T&C’s. If your application is not accepted for help with fees in the next academic year lessons will be charged at the full price.

  • A new application for financial support is needed each year.
  • Please note the fund is a limited, capped fund.
  • We encourage financial support applications within the suggested timeline.
  • A separate application for financial support is required for each sibling.
  • Please be advised that being eligible does not guarantee financial support.

Funding is available at the 50% and 100% levels to help more children to discover or develop their musical voice.

Please note that requests for financial support remain high. If an application for financial support is unsuccessful, there may be charge for fees in full. As music lessons automatically continue term on term and academic year to academic year, if your application is unsuccessful and you do not wish to continue with lessons in September 2024 please ensure that they complete a withdrawal form by Monday 13th May 2024 to ensure that they are not charged for lessons in autumn term of 2024.

Townsend’s Got Talent!

We are excited to inform you of this years ‘Townsend’s Got Talent Show’.

It will be taking place this year on Friday 22nd March from 7.00pm in our school hall.

A range of our students from year 7 – 13 will be showing off their talents through singing, dancing, playing musical instruments, gymnastic performances, poetry, acting, including a sneak preview of what’s to come in this summer’s school show!

If you would like to purchase tickets, here is how you purchase them:

Tickets are £5 per adult and £3 per child and can be purchased on School Gateway (please do not send cash to school). On School Gateway, please calculate the correct amount for the number of adult and child tickets you require. For example, if you require three adult tickets please pay £15 in the adult section, if you require two child tickets please pay £6 in the child section. The numbers are limited to 250 spaces and will be sold on a first come, first served basis. To gain entry upon arrival on the performance night, your name will be checked against our master payment list.

Recent Sixth Form trip

On Tuesday our A-Level Psychology and Sociology students had an insightful trip out to the Royal Courts of Justice in London, where they were able to see inside the court and were able to see an acted out trial! They had a fantastic time and an enjoyable experience.
