If they have not already done so each student should contact the employer by telephone to ask if they need to attend a meeting, interview or initial visit before their placement begins. Most employers will not accept the student for their placement if this contact has not been made.
All students have been issued with a work experience logbook which contains important health and safety information and a script to help them make their phone call to the employer on page 5.
This logbook should be completed on each day of their work experience and the member of staff who visits the student will expect to see evidence of it being completed. There will be prizes and certificates for the best logbooks.
If your child experiences any problems while on their work experience placement please contact me at the school rather than the employer themselves. However, if your child is going to be late to their placement or is ill and unable to attend please ensure that the employer has been contacted and informed by the student.
We hope that all of the students really enjoy this very beneficial experience.

The theme this year is “Movement: Moving more for our mental health”. To kick start the week we are organising a big family fun run and would like as many people in our school community to take part as possible.
The event will take place on Saturday 11th May at 2pm and we invite all students and their parents/carers, siblings and extended family to take part. Entry is £2 per person and all money raised will be going to one of our school charities: Youth Talk. This is a fantastic local charity that supports many of our students.
The fun run is a 2k course and will not be timed, it’s a fun community event where people can choose to run, walk or jog.
The run will start on the school field behind the Discovery Centre and the route is all on grass.
Our school PTA will be selling refreshments afterwards.
If you would like to take part then please complete the Google form and then send payment via School Gateway.
