How exciting!
Our new year 7 pupils will soon be joining us and we are really looking forward to seeing them all.
These are not normal times to be welcoming new pupils and we cannot do many of the things that we would like to do to personally greet and to welcome every one this term. However, this school always rises to a challenge and has always put the education and welfare of its pupils as a priority. I am therefore very pleased to be able to start to welcome each and every one of you in a socially distanced and safe way.
As the only Church of England secondary school in this area we offer something very special: a long tradition of a high quality education which develops the personality and talents of every child in our care, and we are very conscious of our mission to provide your daughter or son with more than just academic success.
We are a school with clear principles and ideals based on a faith ethos, and this philosophy is central to our success. Our great strength is that we keep reminding ourselves of what every parent/carer knows: children learn best when they are happy. We try to provide a stimulating learning environment where all children can achieve and succeed, whatever their ability or aptitude.
We try to ensure that all of our pupils are valued as individuals and all have opportunities to flourish in a community that lives by the values of love, compassion, responsibility, and respect for each other. We aspire to uphold the traditional values of good manners and hard work and have high expectations of all our pupils, trying every day to instil a love of learning and to offer a wealth of academic, cultural, social and sporting activities through which children can find and develop themselves to be the best person that they can be.
This newsletter and future editions together with supplementary emails, virtual talks and meetings will guide everyone through to a successful start to secondary school education. We are thrilled that so many parents and carers choose Townsend to look after their child – trusting us with the most precious thing in your life.
So – a very very big welcome and I so much look forward to a time where I can greet each one of you with a personal welcome into our lively and thriving community.
A Wellbeloved
