Travel to Townsend School is simple and convenient. The school is well-served by buses, and students travel from all parts of St Albans and surrounding towns and villages.
In recent years Townsend has regularly recruited students from over 60 different primary schools and children travel to Townsend from a very wide area. We currently have students from Radlett, Borehamwood, Elstree, Hatfield, South Mimms, North Mymms, Enfield, Hemel Hempstead, Welwyn Garden City, Luton, Harpenden, Wheathampstead, Redbourn, Flamstead, Markyate, Colney Heath, Leverstock Green, Kimpton, Potters Bar, Park Street, Bricket Wood, Chiswell Green, Sandridge, Barnet, Watford, Great and Little Gaddesden, Shenley, Lemsford, Langleybury, Kings Langley, Abbots Langley, Brookmans Park, Edgware and all areas of St.Albans.
The County Council has recently changed the previous agreement with Church Schools to provide school transport and in future will only provide school transport to those with a statutory entitlement. However, you do not need to worry, because we have agreed to take over and organise the bus services that children can pay to use to get to Townsend. Our current bus timetable is shown on the separate bus timetable download and it is expected that buses for next year will follow a similar pattern.
The County Council statutory entitlement to free transport is explained in the County Council secondary transfer book ‘Moving On.’
