Did you know that most children don’t eat enough fish?

Not here! We’ve been cooking & tasting mussels donated by Offshore Shell.. delicious! The pupils really enjoyed the experience – thanks to FoodTCentre & FishmongersCo.

Big thank you to Mrs Babas who helped cook them with us. The students had a great time!

Year 11- Trial Exams

November 30, 2023/in General News/by Steve Telford

Well done to the Year 11 pupils who have on the whole approached their Trial Exams in a diligent and mature fashion, I wish you all the best with the final few Trial Exams next week!

Please can pupils be reminded to be fully equipped for their exams (pen x2, pencil x2, ruler, rubber, protractor, calculator & compass) and also be reminded that they MUST leave any mobile phones in their bags in the small canteen. Pupils in the past have failed their GCSE exams because they have taken phones in to the examination hall, even with the phone being turned off and not in use by the pupil.

Pupils will receive the results of all of their exams after the Christmas break in a Trial Exam results afternoon on 16/01/24.

Have a good weekend,

Mr Still
Head of Year 11

Townsend’s Book Machine!

November 30, 2023/in General News/by Steve Telford

If you have been into school recently, you may well have noticed our new book vending machine in the main foyer, we are very excited about it!

This is a new reward scheme for our students, for those who have done something totally amazing, with schoolwork, enrichment, helping others or doing something for our school community. Any student who receives a golden book token can use this in the vending machine to choose a book to keep (it is tokens only; you cannot use cash in the machine).

In order to keep the books topped up, for all our students to access, we have set up a wish list with Books on the Hill (independent bookshop in St Albans) so parents and member of our community can choose a book to donate to the school. If the vending machine is full, we will add the book to our library in the Discovery Centre for students to borrow.

If you would like to donate a book to Townsend for our students, please click on the link below which will take you to our wish list. You can then choose the book you would like to donate, pay for it online, and the bookshop will deliver it directly to us.

If you click the tabs at the top of the wish list it takes you to the different collections we have chosen.

Thank you so much for your help and support of this venture if you are able to donate. We are really very grateful and excited to be able to offer such a lovely opportunity for our students.
